Short Course on

Logic Design for Computers with Verilog

Course Contents

This course introduces the logic design, which is the foundation of the modern computer systems. We will study several fundamental concepts, including combinational logic, computer arithmetic, sequential logic, finite state machine, and algorithmic state machines. The class has in-class labs where the students design several logic hardware with Verilog hardware description language (HDL).

Last year of undergraduate or the first year of graduate students

Instructor’s Bio:

Mingoo Seok is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University. He received a B.S. from Seoul National University, South Korea, in 2005, an M.S. in 2007, and a Ph.D. degree in 2011 from the University of Michigan, all in electrical engineering. His research interest covers various aspects of computing hardware systems, including machine-learning hardware, low-power variation-tolerant hardware, integrated power management, and hardware security. He served as the Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) distinguished lecturer (2023-2025).
